Pastoral Purpose
The purpose of the Pastor is to serve God and the Church by providing spiritual leadership and vision to the congregation, ensuring the health and growth of the congregation through preaching, teaching, organizational direction and administrative oversight, and seeing that the needs of the congregation are met through the shared ministries of the Church.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Together with the deacons, trustees, staff, auxiliaries and other leaders of the congregation, adapt and communicate the vision for the Church.
Provide a solid biblically based preaching ministry to meet the needs of the congregation and visitors.
In conjunction with the deacons and worship leaders of the Church, congregation, plan and lead in worship (a) the development of the order of service (b) the selection of music (c) the length and number of services (d) the administering of sacraments (e) the development of seasonal events and services and (f) preaching at worship services of the church, including but not limited to Sunday mornings (at least 46 times a year; Deacons will consider other requests) and such church holidays and other special services.
Encourage and nurture the spiritual development and beliefs of the congregation by ensuring that a program of regular teaching of the Bible is in place and providing resources for Sunday School, BTU, Vacation Bible School and other spiritual programs.
Be responsible for teaching Bible Study classes.
Demonstrate pastoral support for all existing church ministries.
Provide pastoral counseling as needed.
Supervise and share in the Church's visitation program to members and friends confined at home, in the hospital and absent members. Some of these tasks may be delegated to the Associate Ministers or deacons.
Conduct weddings and funerals as necessary.
Responsible for church administration and supervision of all paid staff through active mentoring and regular feedback. The Pastor will maintain regular office hours.
Encourage and challenge the congregation when appropriate to increase meaningful involvement in the life of the Church.
Lead staff meetings for team building, sharing, planning and communicating.
Participate in developing the budget; publicly support and participate in fundraising efforts and stewardship programs.
Participate in fellowship activities as time and opportunity permit, therein encouraging the continued spiritual and personal growth of the congregation.

Education/Experience
Formal training in Biblical Studies required, Master’s Degree preferred
Ordained Minister of the Baptist Faith
5 yrs experience in 1 or a combination of:
Full and/or part-time pastoral ministry
Staff pastor
Management experience
Ministerial Skills
Accomplished preacher and teacher committed to Biblical exposition
Understanding the Pastor’s role as the lead worshiper
